L’AMOUR: Kanthan, photography began as a hobby. At what moment did you realize it had become
something much bigger?
Kanthan Dot: Photography started as a creative escape. I simply enjoyed observing light, people,
and moments. But every new project pushed me to think differently, and gradually I realized
photography wasn’t just something I enjoyed—it had become the way I communicate with the
world. The camera evolved from a hobby into my creative voice.
L’AMOUR: Your work has a strong editorial feel. What draws you to fashion photography?
Kanthan: Fashion is one of the most expressive forms of visual art. A garment, a pose, or a single
beam of light can completely change the emotion of an image. I love combining all of those
elements to create photographs that feel cinematic rather than simply beautiful.
L’AMOUR: You often say that every frame tells a story. What makes a photograph truly memorable?
Kanthan:
Emotion. Anyone can create a technically correct image today. What stays with people is how
an image makes them feel. If someone pauses for a few seconds longer because a photograph
sparked curiosity or emotion, then I’ve achieved what I wanted.
L’AMOUR: Collaboration seems central to your creative process. What do you look for in the people you work with?
Kanthan: Trust and openness. The strongest editorials happen when everyone contributes creatively—the model, the stylist, the makeup
artist, the designer. When everyone shares the same vision, the result becomes much greater than the sum of its parts.
L’AMOUR: How would you describe your artistic style?
Kanthan: I would describe it as cinematic, elegant, and intentional. I enjoy dramatic lighting, refined composition, and subtle emotion. Even
in fashion photography, I want viewers to feel as though they’re looking at a scene from a film rather than a single photograph.
L’AMOUR: Fashion constantly evolves. How do you stay creatively inspired?
Kanthan: I find inspiration everywhere—cinema, architecture, travel, music, and everyday life. I don’t want to repeat what has already been
done. Every project should challenge me to see something differently and push my creativity a little further.
L’AMOUR: What have collaborations with models and designers taught you?
Kanthan: That creativity is built on communication. Every person brings a different perspective, and I’ve learned that listening is just as
important as directing. The most successful images come from genuine collaboration rather than control.
L’AMOUR: Looking at your journey so far, what accomplishment makes you most proud?
Kanthan: Not one specific publication or project, but the fact that people trust me with their vision. Every opportunity to create something
meaningful with talented artists reminds me why I started this journey in the first place.
L’AMOUR: What vision do you have for the future of your career?
Kanthan: I want to expand internationally, collaborate with more designers, publish in leading fashion magazines, and continue developing
my artistic identity. Every project is another opportunity to refine my vision and create work that resonates beyond the moment.
L’AMOUR: If someone looks back at your portfolio years from now, what do you hope they remember?
Kanthan: I hope they remember the feeling. More than the clothes or the locations, I want them to remember the emotion inside each frame.
If my work encourages someone to dream, imagine, or simply pause for a moment, then I’ve done my job.
